The

Warmth Framework

The WARMTH Framework focuses on 6 key areas to enable young people to feel safe, a sense of belonging and for their needs to be met; with increased engagement in learning and school attendance being a byproduct of this. The framework was developed as a result of the consultation and involvement of over 1,500 stakeholders.

The understanding that young people are at their best when we prioritise their wellbeing.

“My Head of year in my final year and my Drama teacher through GCSEs were extremely helpful, they both gave support where it was needed and had an understanding of how I felt.”

Practice underpinned by the understanding that everyone is different and that acceptance of difference ensures equity for all.

“I feel more accepted. My key person knows my journey and how my brain works so I have someone who really understands me. Without them I probably wouldn’t be at school.”

Supporting young people from a foundation of trusting relationships and addressing the underlying reasons behind observable behaviours.

“We were able to talk and she actually listened to me and took what I said and adapted her behaviour, as did I, to better understand each other. Because of this, she ended up being one of my favourite teachers.”

Working together in collaboration to achieve the best outcomes for young people.

“Working closely with the new school and communicating with daily updates (from both “sides”) and regular meetings was key for a return to school.”

Identifying and responding to the problems that young people face at the earliest opportunity, providing the right support at the most effective time.

“School paid for my child to access Alternative Provision before things got too bad.”

Exploring and addressing young people’s needs across all facets of their life.

“There may be a wider range of barriers to attending school, whether it is feeling different to peers or difficulties with transport.”
